Welcome to my social media portfolio

I'm Katie Barber, a social media marketing freelancer with over 16 years experience in digital marketing and 11 years in this business. My experience spans across sectors like big tech, FMCG (fash moving consumer goods), industrial, luxury fashion, B2B and third sector (social enterprise). Working with a diverse selection of businesses has given me a unique insight, picking up techniques from B2B that I can use in consumer goods and so on.

What I actually do as a freelance social media marketer.

Each marketing client has different needs and to begin with my clients aren't always sure what those needs are or what's possible - and that's totally okay, that's what our complimentary discovery call is for.

Most of my social media clients need content creation and profile management. Some need content making from scratch, and some have content that they need me to organise or edit. In practise this may look like someone sending me videos they have filmed on their phone to edit, me filming or doing photography myself, or managing a third party photographer, influencer or content creator. Often, it's a mix. I then write copy (captions), schedule the content and respond to customers as the brand. At the end of the month, I deliver an insight report so we can see what's working and what's not. Social media is fluid and reactive and I aim to create a social profile that's not a sales catalogue but an avenue for your community to communicate with the brand.

The goal is to create something that works well on social, looks native on the platform and represents the brand well (I do thorough research on the brand, tone of voice and customer before beginning a social media project). This is ultimately strategised and executed by myself inline with my clients wishes so that they can go and concentrate on other things within the business and I am fully accountable for results.
